Wizards & Wands Festival

Experience the spellbinding magic of your library during Midnight Madness in Uptown Westerville. A night of otherworldly adventure awaits you as the library is transformed into a wizarding wonderland. Enjoy a walk-through experience of activities, including science experiments, live animals, stilt walkers, art & technology demonstrations, magicians, and more!

Dress Code: Costumes encouraged, but not required.
Cost: Admission is free. No registration required.
Weather: Rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, outdoor activities may move to alternate locations.

*The library will be open regular hours from 9am-6pm. Festival activities will begin at 5pm. Expect large crowds.

Hunt for the Hidden Letters* - Pick up your clues at the entrance when you arrive, then decode them to find the hidden letters throughout the library.

Magic-in-a-Minute Tattoos~ - Decorate your skin with a magical temporary airbrush tattoo! Choose from a variety of templates.

Pose for a Bewitching Photo* - Turn your drab family portrait into an otherworldly dreamscape with a charming backdrop and props.

Post a Mystical Message* - Write a caring message to a local senior citizen.

Predict the Future with Fortune-Telling~* - Discover whether your future is merely bleak or altogether deadly with moderately morbid fortunes.

Take a Sorting Quiz~* - Find out which wizarding house best fits your personality with an online quiz.

Triumph at Wizard Trivia~*  - Test your wealth of knowledge in the golden vault with a round of wizards & wands trivia.

* For participating in this activity, you will earn a chance at prize drawings.

Complete eligible activities for a chance to win magic-themed baskets filled with 3-5 items, such as backpacks, toys, books, t-shirts, games, candy, & more. Approximate value = $100/each.

  • To earn tickets, complete the above eligible activities (or additional activities available on the night of the event) through October 25 at 8:30pm.
  • To enter the prize drawing, return your tickets to the prize booth in the atrium on October 25 from 5-9pm.
  • You do not have to be present to win.

Meet the Dragon...Hilda!

On display now through October 31 - This 30-foot, smoke-breathing dragon is currently perched on the library’s roof, keeping a watchful eye on State Street. She breathes smoke and roars every 30 minutes from 5-9pm.
